My Story - Shaune Watts

I’m married to Kimberley and we have 3 children Ella, Jack & Noah.

My enthusiasm for fundraising began in March 2009 where I participated in the Worlds Greatest Shave (WGS) to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation. In 4 weeks I raised $8K.

To learn more about why I support the Leukaemia Foundation please refer to “My Mothers Story - Leukaemia Foundation

On 15 March 2010 I hosted my inaugural Charity Golf Day at Pacific Golf Club, Carindale. The day consisted of 108 players and was a resounding success with approximately $15K being raised for the Foundation, this was in addition to $5K raised through the WGS.

Through this fundraising I was placed in the Top 30 fundraisers in Qld.

In 2011 I signed up as a Quest Ambassador for the Leukaemia Foundation.

On 11th April 2011 I hosted my second Annual Charity Golf Day, again at Pacific Golf Club, Carindale. The day consisted on 128 players and raised $21,873.58 and a further $2,892 from the WGS.

As a Quest Ambassador I was awarded the ESA International award as the 2nd highest fundraiser in 2011. In addition to this I was also awarded the ‘Spirit of the Foundation’ award. Everything I do is about giving back and not for any recognition, but I’m humbled and honoured to be the recipient these awards.

My former employer BOQ is very community minded and supportive of its staff involved in the community, so much so that each year our Managing Director has an awards dinner to recognise and reward employees’ individual efforts in the community. In 2011 I was grateful to receive 1 of 5 Silver awards which delivered a further $5K to the Leukaemia Foundation.

On 21st August 2011 I held my inaugural Charity High Tea at the Sofitel where Mary Collier (4BC Radio Breakfast Host) was the MC and was attended by 56 people. This event raised $4,048.80 and took my 2011 fundraising tally to $33,814.38 (inclusive of BOQ’s MD award).

Going forward I’ll continue with these events and fundraising for the Leukaemia Foundation and I will also be fundraising for the Mater Little Miracles. To learn more about why I support the Mater Little Miracles, refer to “My Story – Mater Little Miracles

All my fundraising is completed in my own time and it’s all about giving back to 2 Foundations who have supported my family through 2 very difficult and trying times, this is my way of saying thanks.

If you would like to support my fundraising you can by donating to either Foundation, becoming a sponsor of my events, donate a prize or volunteer. Please contact myself direct to discuss any of these options, your support is greatly appreciated.
